Summer Classes are Here!

Dyeing Yarn with Kool-Aid—Create a skein of beautiful, bright yarn using Kool-Aid, a legitimate dye-stuff often used because it is non-toxic.  One skein undyed natural wool yarn and Kool-Aid packets provided.  Class size limited to four.

Beginning SewingThis class will cover basic sewing skills and terms as we construct a pillowcase and move to a summery skirt.  Instructor provides patterns and interfacing; student provides 1 yard fabric for first class (available for 20% off at Harmony!), thread, and additional fabric and notions as class progresses.

Beginning Quilting for Real Beginners—Students will learn to use a rotary cutter, piece a quilt, matching seams, add a border, and hopefully leave with a baby-sized quilt top.  Bring 2/3 yard each of one light and one dark fabric,  ½ yard of contrasting fabric for border, and coordinating thread.

Beginning Knitting—Learn basic stitches and begin a scarf or handwarmers.  Price includes beautiful instruction booklet and patterns for both projects.  Students will provide one skein of 100-gram worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles.

Kids’ Knit & Crochet Club—Come join the Harmony Kids’ Knit & Crochet Club! Meeting every Friday afternoon from 4:30 to 6pm, Allison Baker will provide guidance and encouragement to help you start and finish fun projects. Basic knitting or crochet skills preferred, but will be taught if needed.   For motivated kids age 10 and up.  (20% off supplies with dues!)

Sewing with Knits: T-Shirt–We will give you courage to sew with knits by walking you through construction of a simple T-shirt.  Purchase and download either Oliver + S “School Bus T Shirt” or “Metro T-Shirt”, pre-shrink fabric, and cut out pattern pieces.  We’ll put it together in class and send you home with a shirt and lots of confidence—great for back to school sewing!
