SARAHjane Swaddle and Sommer Fabric is at Harmony!

Our very own Provo local SARAHjane will be in our shop tomorrow afternoon from 4-6p to introduce her beautiful new line of fabrics! We are carrying several colors of her Swaddle Fabric and Sommer Fabric and she will be on hand to give you all the details!

Come into the shop at 315 E. Center Street in Provo, UT from 4-6p on Saturday January 30 (tomorrow!) to meet Sarah Jane and to see and feel the fabrics that we’re carrying.

And, there might be a few fun, free surprises waiting for you! *wink*wink*

Winter Classes Are Here!

We have some fun new classes in store for you!  Call or come in to Harmony to register…

childrens sewingChildren’s Sewing—This is a great class for kids who want to learn to sew (beginners and beyond!) Projects may include: pillowcase, pajama pants, backpack, apron and much, much more! Students will purchase all fabric; a 20% discount for supplies offered at Harmony with class registration. Two classes available: 2:30-3:30; 3:30-4:30

Kids Club Halloween Eve 2015 cropKids’ Knit & Crochet Club—Come join the Harmony Kids’ Knit & Crochet Club! Allison Baker will provide guidance and encouragement to help you start and finish fun projects. Basic knitting or crochet skills preferred, but will be taught if needed. For motivated kids age 10 and up. (20% off supplies with dues!) Fridays, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

beginning crochet class flower project summer 2013Beginning Crochet—Learn the basics of crochet while making a lovely flower pin. Basic stitches such as chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet and double crochet will be taught. Bring one skein worsted weight yarn in desired flower color, and 1 size H/8 5.0mm crochet hook. Each participant will receive a muslin drawstring bag and course folder with illustrated instructions. Green yarn will be provided for the leaves, if desired.

FullSizeRender (1)Beginning Continental Knitting for Adults—We will learn basic knitting and purling in the Continental style of knitting. We will also learn a basic cast-on and cast-off. We will use our new skills to make a dishcloth and a cute cowl. One skein of dishcloth yarn will be provided by instructor. Students bring: one or two skeins (200 yards) Aran-weight yarn, a 16” size 8 circular knitting needle, a tapestry needle, scissors, measuring tape or ruler, knitting ring place markers, and a pen.

Fair IsleLoving Color Through Fair Isle Knitting—You will learn this skill with your hands, mind, and heart as we demystify stranded knitting, study color possibilities, hold needles while negotiating more than one color of yarn, read a Fair Isle pattern chart, and learn finishing technique. Learning these skills have brought me great joy over the years and I am excited to share them with you. Ability to knit in the round will help. Supplies: Fair Isle Arm Warmers pattern by Erika Westerop-Cello Knits (free Ravely download); 5 skeins of sport/DK weight yarn in a variety of colors (Quince & Co. Chickadee or Rowan Felted Tweed DK are perfect ); needles: a set of size 2 DPN or long circulars for magic loop. (A “tight knitter” may need a size 3.) A tapestry needle is helpful for weaving in ends.

Entrelac Knitting: Headband—Students will learn to knit entrelac while making a beautiful head band. Other techniques we will employ are knitted I-Cord and backwards knitting. Supplies: a 50 gram ball of worsted yarn, size 7 or 8 knitting needles (straight or circular) plus same size double pointed needles.

earringsKnitting wire and beads: Earrings—Students will learn to knit with wire, adding beads for embellishment. We will make a pair of earrings, exploring several shapes. Students should bring a pair of metal knitting needles, size 3 or 4, and reading glasses if applicable (the beads are tiny!) Instructor will provide all other materials included in class fee.
