Intermediate Knitting: My First Sweater—We will knit a top-down sweater in one piece. You can bind off and practically wear it out of class! Learn the importance of a gauge swatch, increases and decreases, and how to knit with double point needles. Class members should be comfortable casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off. Supplies: aran weight yarn and needles, size determined after first session on gauge swatching; 20% off at Harmony!

Beginning Continental Knitting—Come learn basic knitting and purling in the Continental style. We’ll learn a basic cast-on and cast-off, and we’ll use our new skills to make a dishcloth and cozy cowl. Dishcloth yarn will be provided. Students bring: one or two skeins (200 yards) Aran-weight yarn, a 16” size 8 circular knitting needle, tapestry needle, scissors, measuring tape, stitch markers, and a pen. Ages 14 and up.

Dyeing Yarn with Kool-Aid—Create a skein of beautiful, bright yarn using Kool-Aid, a legitimate dye-stuff often used because it is non-toxic. One skein undyed natural wool yarn and Kool-Aid packets provided. Class size limited to four.
Wednesday, July 13, 1-2 pm $15 Laura Harmon
Beginning Crochet—Learn the basics of crochet while making a lovely flower pin. Chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet and double crochet stitches will be taught. Supplies: One skein worsted weight yarn in desired flower color, and 1 size H/8 5.0mm crochet hook. Each participant will receive a muslin drawstring bag and course folder with illustrated instructions. Green yarn will be provided for leaves, if desired.

Each will contain combinations of essential oils diluted in fractionated coconut oil so they are safe to use for everyone in your home, including those with sensitive skin, pregnant women, and children. Dreamcatcher Workshop—Dreamcatchers have been used for hundreds of years by various Native American tribes as a way to keep nightmares away, especially from children. Hoops wrapped with fabric and string and bits of things from everyday life became a practical adornment. Come make a modern dream catcher of your own, using yarn and fabric from our beautiful Harmony stash. We’re going to have a ball! Supplies included. Ages 7-14.

Beginning Weaving—Pin looms are portable, fun to use hand-held looms—a great way to learn to weave! Come celebrate Christmas in July and make a simple Christmas tree ornament or display. Traditional Granny Square Class—Learn to crochet a timeless classic. We will learn circular crochet motifs, changing colors, weaving in ends as you go, and joining techniques. Basic crochet skills required. Bring several different colors of DK or worsted weight yarn, size F/5 3.75 mm hook (DK) or size H/8 5.0 mm hook (worsted), scissors, and a tapestry needle.

Girls Accessory Workshop—Our workshop will focus on easy-to-make jewelry items. Each girl will take home a bracelet, a hair bow or pin, and a pair of earrings (both clip-on and pierced available). Choose from a myriad of supplies and learn some jewelry-making basics. This class is suitable for girls even as young as 5!. All supplies included. Ages 5-14.
