Natural Remedies for the Winter Season—Be prepared for whatever comes your way this winter. You’ll leave class with a homemade bottle of elderberry syrup (research shows that elderberries help shorten the duration of the flu), shower disks (to help ease congestion), an essential oil rollerball for allergy relief, and a printout of Allie’s go-to natural remedies.

Beginning Continental Knitting for AdultsSOLD OUT!  Learn basic knitting and purling in the Continental style. We will also learn a basic cast-on and cast-off and use these skills to make a dishcloth and a cute cowl. Dishcloth yarn will be provided by instructor. Students provide: 200 yards Aran-weight yarn, a 16” size 8 circular knitting needle, tapestry needle, scissors, measuring tape/ruler, knitting ring place markers, and a pen.

Weaving 101SOLD OUT!  Learn to weave on a rigid heddle loom.  Students will warp their loom in class and begin to weave a scarf.  They will work on the scarf at home then complete it in class.  Students will begin a second project at home, with the third class for trouble shooting.  Looms will be available to purchase or rent at 20% off; rental fee can be applied to purchase price.  Supplies: two 50-gram balls of worsted weight yarn for a skinny (5”) scarf, or two 100-gram balls for a 7-8” wide scarf.

Beginning Crochet—Learn crochet basics (chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet) while making a lovely flower pin. Supplies: One skein worsted weight yarn in desired flower color & 1  H/8 5.0mm hook. Students receive a muslin drawstring bag and folder with illustrated instructions. Green yarn provided for leaves.

Granny Square Class—Learn to crochet a timeless classic.  We will learn circular crochet motifs, changing colors, weaving in ends as you go, and joining techniques.  Basic crochet skills required.  Bring several different colors of DK or worsted weight yarn, size F/5 3.75 mm hook (DK) or size H/8 5.0 mm hook (worsted), scissors, and a tapestry needle.

It means accommodating various diets without losing a sense of adventure. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free…all can be delicious and pleasing to everyone sitting around the table.

Icelandic Sweater—Knit an authentic pullover sweater with warm, durable, lightweight Icelandic Lettlopi wool. Knit from the bottom up, sleeves connect as we go—so much fun! Learn stranded colorwork and steeking.  Supplies: Stopover pattern by Mary Jane Mucklestone from Ravelry, 700-1500 yds. of Istex Lettlopi yarn (depending on your size) in your preferred main color, plus 1 skein each of three other contrasting colors; circular knitting needles (about size 10–depending on your swatch); scissors; measuring tape; stitch markers; a blunt-tipped tapestry needle; a pencil or pen; and scrap yarn. For the sleeves we will also need double-pointed needles in the same size as your circular needle, or, if you prefer, 1 extra long-cabled needle for magic loop, or two 24″ circulars in the same needle size as your main needles if you prefer that method.

Before Class: Please swatch to get gauge: 13 stitches and 18 rows = 4″ in stockinette stitch with the yarn you are using for the main part of your sweater. Please wash your swatch and air dry it to get the correct gauge.

Knitting level: Intermediate or Adventurous Advanced Beginner  (Can cast on and cast off, comfortably knit and purl in the round, and can do a basic increase and decrease).

Top-Down Sock ClassSOLD OUT!  Learn the ins and outs of knitting a basic well-fitting pair of socks from the top down on double-pointed needles—turn a sturdy heel, make toe decreases, and learn how to make Kitchener stitch your friend. Your feet will be so excited and so comfy!  Supplies: set of 5 size #1 double-pointed needles, 5″ long; 1 or 2 skeins of fingering-weight yarn (sock yarn), totaling about 400 yards; scissors; tapestry needle; measuring tape; pen or pencil.

Knitting level: Advanced Beginner (Can cast on and cast off, comfortably knit and purl, and can do a basic increase and decrease).

Creative Embroidery Workshop—SOLD OUT!  Come learn to express your creativity with needle and thread from a master teacher, Laura’s sister Leah Tippetts Smith.  Bring an image (flower, animal, etc.) and she’ll show you how to transfer it to fabric and start embroidering, for a blouse front, quilt block, etc.  Supplies: embroidery hoop, fabric (20% off), and scissors.
