Fall Class List

Beginning Crochet—Learn crochet basics (chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet and double crochet) while making a lovely flower pin. Supplies: One skein worsted weight yarn in desired flower color and 1 size H/8 5.0mm hook. Students receive a muslin drawstring bag and folder with illustrated instructions. Green yarn provided for leaves. Class size limited to 4!

Dreamcatcher Workshop—Dreamcatchers have been used for hundreds of years by various Native American tribes as a way to keep nightmares away. Hoops wrapped with fabric and string and bits of things from everyday life became a practical adornment. Come make a modern dreamcatcher of your own, using yarn and fabric from our beautiful Harmony stash. We’re going to have a ball! Supplies included. Ages 7-14.

Weaving 101—Learn to weave on a rigid heddle loom. Students will warp their loom in class and begin to weave a scarf. They will work on the scarf at home then complete it in class. Students will begin a second project at home, with the third class for trouble shooting. Looms will be available to rent; rental fee can be applied to purchase price at 20% off.  Student provides two 50-gram balls of worsted weight yarn for a skinny (5″) scarf, or two 100-gram balls for a 7-8″ wide scarf.

Girls’ Accessory Workshop—Our workshop will focus on easy-to-make jewelry. Each girl will take home a bracelet, a hair bow or pin, and a pair of earrings (both clip-on and pierced available). Choose from a myriad of supplies and learn some jewelry-making basics. This class is suitable for girls even as young as 5! All supplies included. Ages 5-14.

Open Wide Bags–Open Wide is a great pattern with 3 different sizes of cosmetic bags, perfect for travel and organization.  The pattern includes some quick slip mesh pockets inside and a neat zipper method, as well as other bag-making tips. Dyeing Yarn with Kool-Aid—Create a skein of beautiful, bright yarn using Kool-Aid, a legitimate dye-stuff often used because it is non-toxic. One skein undyed natural wool yarn and Kool-Aid packets provided. Class size limited to four.

Mid-Semester Survival Kit: An Essential Oil Make and Take—Midterms are upon us; you will likely be feeling the effects! Come to Harmony to make your own essential oil- infused bath salts (Epsom salt, pink Himalayan salt, and dried flowers) for a relaxing soak, as well as a rollerball with a relaxing blend of essential oils to ease stress throughout the day. Cost includes all supplies. (Make additional bath salt and rollerball sets for $10/each.)

Stash and Dash Bag—Stash and Dash is a fun roll up zippered bag.  This class will teach you the basics of bag-making: quilting your fabric, sewing in zippers, working with mesh and binding techniques.  It’s a perfect afternoon project that’s great for gift giving. Granny Square Class—Learn to crochet a timeless classic. We will learn circular crochet motifs, changing colors, weaving in ends as you go, and joining techniques. Basic crochet skills required. Bring several different colors of DK or worsted weight yarn, size F/5 3.75 mm hook (DK) or size H/8 5.0 mm hook (worsted), scissors, and a tapestry needle.
